(Doylestown, PA) – August 27, 2018 – Samantha Schneider, the USA Crits Series winner and her younger sister Skylar, just back from a grueling European campaign with the number-one women’s team in the world, Boels Dolmans, headline a superb women’s field at the USA Cycling Pro Road Tour final this Sunday. Veterans Tina Pic and Laura Van Gilder, along with 2015 winner Lauretta Hanson will be challengers to the famed sisters, the 2017 and 2016 winners respectively of the Thompson Criterium of Doylestown.
The pro men will be headlined by the United States Professional Criterium Champion Ty Magner, the Rally Cycling sprinter coming off of an astounding set of performances at last week’s Gateway Cup in St. Louis where he won three of the four races. 2014 winner Shane Kline of Bally, PA, who is making a return to his roots as a track racer with an eye on the 2020 Olympic Team for Tokyo will be among the favorites for the win.
The races, beginning at 11:30 EST on Sunday, will be live-streamed on cyclingnews.com, velonews.com, and buckscountyclassic.com. Eight-time Emmy Award winner Kent Gordis will direct the show with Tour de France veteran Frankie Andreu as host.
The Thompson Criterium of Doylestown is arguably the toughest race of its kind in the country. Its 1.4-mile racecourse, long for a criterium, boasts 90-feet of climbing each lap, for a total of 1620’ for the women’s 25-mile race and 4000’ for the 62-miles of the men.
The race encircles the Doylestown Arts Festival and is renowned for the house parties that line the course of the Victorian town.
Adding to the day of cycling festivities will be the inaugural Brompton Burst, a folding bike and best dressed competition.
In addition to the men’s and women’s pro races, the Thompson Bucks County Classic will include a 25-mile amateur men’s race for USA Cycling category 2 and 3 racers, allowing amateurs the chance to make their name in a pro race setting; the Brompton Burst; a Cyclosportif offering 31- and 61-mile recreational rides with a hospitality tent finish that provides VIP views of the pro races; and children’s races that take place on the professional racecourse.
The schedule of events is as follows:
- Cyclosportif at 8:30 AM
- Amateur Men at 9:30
- Children’s Races at 10:30
- Doylestown Health Pro Women at 11:30
