You’ve likely seen them in clips of old movies: tall bikes with a very large front wheel and a much smaller rear wheel. They are known as penny-farthings, highwheelers or ordinaries. And they are coming to Doylestown for the second annual Lenape Scorcher highwheel bicycle race. This is a race not to be missed, with modern day riders atop bicycles that rose to popularity in the late 1800s. The race will last 40 minutes and is limited to a total of 20 riders. Check out this video to appreciate the beauty of these antique bicycles in action.
